Leader/Mascot in Rastafarian movement
Bob Marley really wasn't as much a leader during the movement more than a mascot. Bob Marley served as a new face for the reggae by using the teachings in the Rastafarian religion/movement in his music while also letting users dance and have a good time. Through out his career, Bob Marley has sold over 20 million records worldwide, making him the first international superstar originating from a third world country. At one point during his career Bob went to Africa, and visited countries with a spiritual home to Rastas. During this time he got in touch with what it really means to be a Rasta by visiting the heart of the religion, Ethiopia. Releasing his 9th album, "Survival" the album itself was really good, and yet at the same time progressively championing pan African solidering. The album also includes, "Zimbabwe" and, "Africa-Unite" that gives a small potation of the anthem to the liberated colony, Rhodesia. Basicly, through out his career he was making music, redefining a genre, and all while bringing a new face on what people see and think about the Rastafari movement.
BOb Marleys legacy
Bob Marley's legacy grows ever larger, as used by ever longing list of accomplishments towards his music, which identifies oppressors and wanting for social change while, at the same time, letting his listeners forget their stress and dance. Now a days when people think about reggae music, automatically they should think about Bob Marley because of the way he portrayed his music, how he follows the Rastafarian religion, and the way he grabbed his listeners attention. Bob helped many people reminded that life will be hard, his music reminded people to take a break once in a while and love everybody excluding sinners. Marley once quoted, "Truth is everybody is going to hurt you, you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." The influence Bob had on the worlds population was unimaginable, blind to race, color, or creed. His revolutionary, yet unifying, music ran against colonialism, and racism in places where English wasn't even spoken. Sadly Bob Marley passed away due to cancer on his toe in Miami, Florida on May 11, 1981.
